At the conclusion of Mass on Saturday, November 26 the Miraculous Medal will be blessed and distributed. Next to the St. Benedict Medal and Brown Scapular it is one of the Church’s most effective sacramentals. In visions of the visions of the Blessed Mother to St. Catherine Labouré, of the Daughters of Charity, it was related that “Those who wear [the medal] will receive great graces. They should wear it around the neck. Abundant graces will be given to those who wear it with confidence.” The medal had originally been called the “medal of the Immaculate Conception,” but so many remarkable graces and favors were soon granted through it that it quickly became known as the Miraculous Medal.
