Fr. Basil is a Dominican priest who has spent decades teaching and forming seminarians, priests and lay faithful in moral and spiritual theology. A former professor at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in Rome, he later served as a professor at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C., where he taught until becoming professor emeritus in 2023.

A distinguished scholar, theologian, and author, Fr. Basil contributed to The Priest, Homiletic and Pastoral Review, Faith and Reason, and Angelicum. He collaborated with the late Germain Grisez on the renowned The Way of the Lord Jesus series of moral theology. His published works include A Sense of Humor and Virtue: A Thomistic Theological Perspective and Music and Morals: A Theological Appraisal of the Moral and Psychological Effects of Music. His most recent book, Angelic Virtues and Demonic Vices: Aquinas's Practical Principles for Reaching Heaven and Avoiding Hell (2024, TAN Books), offers profound insights into the path of virtue and the struggle against vice.
